Cancer can affect your finances. You and your caregiver may need to take a leave from work. You may have additional expenses such as medications, food and transportation. Cedars CanSupport has a humanitarian fund intended only for cancer patients who are in financial need and are treated at the Cedars Cancer Centre of the McGill Health University Centre (MUHC).
How to apply for financial support
Cancer patients of the MUHC must make the request to meet with a social worker at the Cedars Cancer Centre. They will evaluate the situation and give suggestions for financial support.
To make an appointment with a social worker, it is not required to have a referral. MUHC cancer patients may ask their medical team they wish to meet with a social worker or they can directly contact the MUHC Social Services department by phone at (514) 934-1934 ext. 31569.
